Kim BeazleyPatron
The Honourable Kim Beazley AC was installed as Governor on the 1st May 2018 as the 33rd Governor of Western Australia. Mr Beazley was born in Subiaco, educated at Hollywood Senior High School and completed two degrees at The University of Western Australia. He served for nearly three decades in the Australian Federal Parliament and for a period of six years as Ambassador to the United States of America.
Prior to becoming Governor, Mr Beazley had a distinguished record of service to the public, leadership and representation of Australia.
In 2009, Mr Beazley was awarded the Companion of the Order of Australia for service to the Parliament of Australia through contributions to the development of government policies in relation to defence and international relations, as an advocate for Indigenous people and for service to the community.

Richard SandoverBoard Chairman
Richard is an experienced commercial, infrastructure and property litigator practicing in the area of commercial litigation and mediation with a focus on contract law, resources, property development and planning law. He acts for clients in a range of commercial, property, contractual, statutory and construction related matters. Building on 30 years plus of working with business and government, in respect of some of Western Australia’s iconic infrastructure projects, Richard has a broad experience and a wide network in Western Australian and Australian business circles. He is the Chairman of Partners of Jackson McDonald. Richard graduation from the University of Western Australia with a bachelor degrees in Juris Prudence and Laws.
Margot MatthewsChief Executive Officer
Margot Matthews is the Chief Executive Officer of Clean Marine Fuel Institute. She has 30 years technical leadership experience in blue chip resources companies including Woodside, Alcoa and Tronox. Margot has a broad range of experience in strategy, technology/innovation and driving collaboration for impact. As an Adjunct Associate Professor she has lectured in Chemical Engineering at the University of Western Australia. More recently she started up the not for profit COLAB.org that brought together ‘build environment’ professionals with community organisations in need of their pro bono services. Margot has an Honours degree in Chemical Engineering from Queen’s University in Canada.
Capt. Walter P. PurioBoard Member
Captain Walter P. Purio is a former Chief Executive Officer of Clean Marine Fuel Institute. Walter serves as a non-executive director to Pelican Clean Energy Pty Ltd which provides marine expertise, insight and advice to government, resource, and oil and gas companies as they explore the potential to develop LNG as a marine fuel industry in the Southern Hemisphere. Captain Purio is a seasoned maritime industry executive who has worked across several marine disciplines including commercial shipping, marine finance, marine compliance, naval operations, offshoring, mining and support to the oil and gas industry. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and MBA’s from the University of Chicago and the Katholieke Universitat in Leuven, Belgium, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).
Mary HackettBoard Member
Mary Hackett is the Principal of Lekayla, an Energy and Resources consultancy firm. She previously held the role of CEO for Baker Hughes a GE Company (BHGE) Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea where she was responsible for the business execution of one of BHGE’s significant Oil and Gas regions globally. Leading a portfolio of technology solutions for the industry; from hydrocarbon discovery and development, through to hydrocarbon processing and energy generation. Prior to Mary joining General Electric in 2014, her 30 year industry experience has seen her in several leadership positions at Woodside, including Senior Vice President for their Australian Oil Business Unit and Project Manager for the Pluto Expansion. Before that, Mary spent 10 years in managerial and engineering roles in Brown & Root Engineering. Mary is Chair Elect for Future Energy Exports a proposed CRC for LNG and future energy exports from Australia and a director of gold mining producer, Northern Star Resources. Mary is a fellow of the institute of engineers holding a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University College Galway.

Daniel Kalms is Senior Vice President Corporate and Legal at Woodside Energy, based in Perth, Western Australia.
Daniel was appointed in 2020 to Woodside’s Executive Committee as Senior Vice President Corporate and Legal. His portfolio includes responsibility for Legal, Internal Audit, Governance Risk & Compliance, Corporate Affairs, Security & Emergency Management, Business Climate & Energy Outlook and Global Property & Facility Service.
Daniel has 20 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry, including as Senior Vice President for Development Planning. Since joining Woodside in 2001, Daniel gained extensive experience across departments including commercial, development, projects, operations and business management. Daniel was Pluto Plant Manager based in Karratha rom 2011 to 2014, overseeing the start-up of the new LNG production facility.
Daniel graduated from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical), Graduate Certificate in Project Management and a Master of Business Administration.

Over the past 25 years, Tony has enjoyed an extensive and diverse international business background where he has held various senior executive and directorship roles in Australia, North America and New Zealand working within both the Property and Advertising sectors. Tony is currently CEO of Altegra Property Group, a Western Australian based Commercial Property business that he founded over a decade ago. He is also a Co-Founder of Pelican Clean Energy, a company that provides marine expertise, insight and advice to government, resource, and oil and gas companies as they explore the potential to develop LNG as a marine fuel industry in the Southern Hemisphere. In October 2014, Tony was appointed to the Board of Management of the Botanical Gardens and Parks Authority, a Western Australian State Government entity. Tony is also a Board member of the Parkerville Children and Youth Care organisation.
Rod DukeBoard Member
Rod Duke commenced as Chief Executive Officer of Energy Queensland Limited in April 2020. Prior to this he was CEO of the Gladstone LNG project operating company for Santos and its partners.
Energy Queensland is Australia’s largest electricity distributor with an asset base in excess of A$26 billion and 7,600 staff, with its Energex and Ergon subsidiaries serving over 2.3 million connected consumers across the state.
Rod is also the CEO and a board director of the Ergon Energy retail business which purchases and sells electricity to over 760,000 retail consumers in regional Queensland.
Rod has extensive leadership and energy industry experience having worked in other senior roles with Woodside, in regulation at Singapore’s Energy Market Authority, and as an executive with Singapore LNG Corporation.
He has a strong commercial and safety focus with more than 35 years professional international experience in operations, commercial, marketing, trading, development, projects, engineering, construction and commissioning areas of the natural gas industry, as well as leading transformational projects.
Rod holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) with Honours and a Graduate Diploma of Management. He is a member of the University of Queensland School of Chemical Engineering Industry Advisory Board and a board director of the Clean Marine Fuels Institute.
